Yet another browser touted as being the fastest on earth has just crossed our transom. Whether or not it lives up to that hype (more on this below), Safari 5 definitely delivers Apple's traditional eye candy for both Mac and PC users (it was released for both platforms). But it's more than just a beautiful browser. Safari loads webpages faster and adds more HTML 5 support. The stand-out new feature, however, is the "Safari Reader" mode, which strips out non-essential elements of a page (including pictures and video) so you can focus on the meat, i.e., the text.

Safari Reader
Safari's Reader view is a great boon for those vexed by constant text popups and distracting elements, which have more and more come to dominate the Web. For starters, Safari Reader saves you from installing an ad-blocker. Not only does Safari Reader block ads, it also attempts to display all pages of multipage articles in Reader view. To activate it, simply click the "Reader" button that appears in the address bar for pages that the browser has determined can benefit from it.

It was only last week that Apple unveiled an HTML 5 Demo site as part of its assault on Adobe's Flash. Ironically, though the site purports to show how an open standard can accomplish everything a proprietary plug-in can, it only accepts Safari 4 or 5.

The demos below show how the latest version of Apple’s Safari web browser, new Macs, and new Apple mobile devices all support the capabilities of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Not all browsers offer this support. But soon other modern browsers will take advantage of these same web standards — and the amazing things they enable web designers to do.

Δηλαδή με λίγα λόγια οι παρουσιάσεις HTML5 στην Apple σελίδα ΠΡΟΣ ΤΟ ΠΑΡΟΝ θέλουν Safari αλλά στο κοντινό μέλλον θα παίζουν σε ΟΛΑ τα μοντέρνα προγράμματα πλοήγησης του Διαδικτύου.

Το ότι το Safari είναι το μοναδικό πρόγραμμα που σέβεται πραγματικά τους ανθρώπους με ειδικές ανάγκες αυτό μην το αναφέρουμε πουθενά, έτσι; Ψιλά γράμματα έτσι; Για να μην πούμε τίποτα από τα δεκάδες χαρακτηριστικά που έχει και δεν έχουν τα άλλα προγράμματα και ίσως να μην τα έχουν ποτέ.
