David Lynch Interview Project

The Man Himself. Mr. David Lynch!

On June 1, legendary movie-maker David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire) will present Interview Project, a 121-part documentary series featuring 3-5 minute portraits of a ordinary (and sometimes extraordinary) Americans from all over the country.
Commissioned by Lynch, and compiled by a team of filmmakers who criss-crossed the states gathering dozens of personal histories, the series -- to be premiered every three days throughout the year until next June -- is available only at interviewproject.davidlynch.com, but you'll find an exclusive first look at the very Lynchian project -- introduced by the man himself at Hollywood Insider!

Read and watch the video here as well as visit the official site of the project here.

Unbelievable! David Lynch once again raises the bar, of life.

Microsoft's OS Boogie

So I'm discussing column topics with my Cranky Geeks cohort, Sebastian "Did-you-know-I-was-taught-guitar-by-Joe-Satriani?" Rupley. He tells me something that doesn't surprise me in the least: "Anything written about Windows 7 right now sends readership numbers through the roof!"

It's always been like that: Readers are generally interested in nothing but the latest operating system from Microsoft. This is especially true during the period of rave reviews that precedes the actual shipment of the real product. I suppose I could install Win7 RC1 and write a useless review talking about how fast it is when you have 20GB of main memory and the OS and ten apps are all in RAM. But so what? It's a "candidate," not the final product. It is, by definition, zombie code that people are supposed to find fault with, not praise.

These public betas are publicity stunts that really accomplish very little. Has anyone noticed the similarities to what happened with Windows Vista?

I mean wtf? Dvorak nailed it once again. We are living in very strange times indeed.

Chrome = Monopoly?

Google's Chrome browser has a market share that rounds down to zero. Yet Microsoft plans to argue to the European Commission that bundling Chrome into Windows -- an anti-trust decree the EC wants to impose -- will potentially give Google a monopoly hold on the Internet.

The claim seems laughable to anyone who hasn't used Chrome. But those who try the largely unknown application almost unanimously rave about its speed and ease of use. Never mind the arcane software benchmark charts all over the 'Net: Chrome is fast.

Read the rest here.

How exactly Micro$oft knows that such a monopoly can be created? Simple. That's how they got their own monopoly going on with Internet Explorer back in the 90s. Hey, thats what sheep such as you are here for. To create monopolies without giving a shit.

As for Chrome. Yes, its fast. Yes, its secure. Yes, it has this and that. Above all, great potential. But here we are, sheep not caring for it. But don't let something that is A LOT better than Internet Explorer fool you into use it. Keep using that shitty IE. You deserve it. Fools.

Antichrist

I can't wait for this film...

This second trailer escaped me the first time so here it is. If you are a person who is easily afraid of movies like Hostel and such better stay away from Antichrist.

AMD taunts Intel?

Advanced Micro Devices is flying the European Union flag on its home page. A little gloating going on?
And if the image doesn't convey the message, the caption does: "European Commission finds Intel guilty of breaking antitrust laws, harming consumers."

Read the rest here.

Read AMD's Break Free site here.

Apparently Intel did something nasty to AMD and to us. Yes. Intel MUST pay the price. BUT... Why AMD is cheerful? Where are the AMD killer products? What AMD is offering to us now that is better than what Intel is offering? Whatever AMD. Whatever. You slept with Micro$oft. Now, please do us a favor and go and sleep some more with them. Ah, I see. You just realized what I know from my childhood. That Micro$oft treats their partners, customers and opponents just like a pimp treats their whores.

Stop bitching AMD and if you want to move ahead of what Intel is doing just love the Linux people. And you are set to win. For life!

Sleeping with the Devil, what did you honestly believe? That it will not going to hurt?

Pathetic.

Proprietary VS Freedom

We're not going to bore you by talking about free beer versus free speech - that's an old argument and one with which we hope you're familiar by now. Instead, we want you to focus on the web services you rely on. Think Google. Think Gmail. Think Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm or any number of others.

Large chunks of your life are likely to rely on these companies continuing to provide their services to you for free, but are they free software? Of course not - but the problem is that most folks don't even consider that question.

In the old days, JavaScript was a simple glue layer that added snippets of functionality to the web. Dynamic HTML meant that web pages could react a little bit to user input. But really it's the rise of Ajax, which enables web pages to send and receive data without reloading the whole page, that's powering a new generation of websites and enabling people to produce increasingly powerful apps that run entirely inside your web browser - you only need look at the Chrome Experiments to see just how much JavaScript can do.

Thanks to its developers, OpenOffice.org is approaching feature parity with Microsoft Office, and Evolution now functions as a drop-in replacement for Microsoft Outlook. But if more people rely on web-based services such as Gmail or Google Docs, which aren't available under a free software licence, aren't we giving up our freedom just as we're on the verge of removing the proprietary shackles once and for all?

Interesting read. Rings so many bells that I bet my life that most of you sheep out there will not even get what that article is all about. And you will continue to love M$ Vista 2, errr, sorry, I mean Windows 7.

Sheep wake the hell UP!

Sony Pictures CEO hates us

To be more exact he hates the way we use the Internet.

I'm a guy who doesn't see anything good having come from the Internet...(The Internet) created this notion that anyone can have whatever they want at any given time. It's as if the stores on Madison Avenue were open 24 hours a day. They feel entitled. They say, 'Give it to me now,' and if you don't give it to them for free, they'll steal it.

Read the rest here.

That is coming from a person who loves us, the consumers, to pay at least $20 for a DVD which even then we are NOT entitled to copy for PERSONAL usage!!!

Go fuck yourself Mr.CEO of Sony Pictures.

NOTE:
Please DO pirate from now and on, ALL Sony movies instead of buying them from ANYWHERE on the Internet. Also, try NOT to rent or buy ANY of their DVD or Blu-Ray disks as well as NOT going to theaters playing any of their films. Let him eat his own words by NOT giving him a SINGLE cent! The fucking cunt.

Oh, and while you are there DON'T buy any of their freaking PS3 and Blu-Ray players.

Sony indeed can blame themselves for their financial mess.

Steve Jobs

The man who changed our lives forever... The man who combined philosophy, technology, music, poetry and design in order to make us feel happy in our chaotic and miserable lives.

This is a typeface-driven design based on the "Here's to the crazy ones" ad campaign from Apple in the 90s, using Motter Tektura, Apple Garamond, Myriad, Univers, Gill Sans, and Volkswagen AG Rounded, fonts present in Apple branding and products.
